How Many Visits Will It Take To Get Better?

Updated: Aug 8, 2023

That's the magical question. Everyone always wants to know how long until they will get better. Truth to the fact is it's very hard to determine how many visits it will take due to that no one person is the same. On average we see patients 6-8 visits until they are 99% better. Now this doesn't mean that's how long it will take for you. The data takes into account patients who have been in severe car accidents and also people who have nothing severe going on but just like to get soft tissue work and adjusted. Many different factors come into play when it comes to how long the treatment will take such as: how severe your injury is, how chronic your injury is, what you do throughout the day / daily life style, how committed you are to doing your at home exercises/stretches, performing the at home exercises with correct form, how often you come into the clinic, etc.

There is a misconception on Chiropractic care completely healing someone after one adjustment due to all the click bait out there. You can see big change within one visit but in actuality these things take time. The more committed you are to doing your prescribed exercises with the correct form, the faster this process goes. Especially if you have a chronic issue, these things do not just get better over night. They take time, to which you will get that detailed treatment plan of action at the clinic.

Typically what we do at Pro Motion Chiropractic is 2x a week for 2 weeks then knock you down to 1x a week for another 2 weeks pending your results. It really depends on your condition, for example people with chronic sciatica tend to require 3x a week fro the first week. Some people require 2x a week for more than 2 weeks and some people require 2x a week for only 1. It really just depends how your body responds to the treatment along with if you are committed to doing your prescribed movement exercises/stretches at home. This is the more traditional route we take at Pro Motion Chiropractic however, we have had plenty of patients who come in just to keep that healthy spine and love to go on our maintenance plan of 1-2x a month. A Physical Therapy prescription is 12 visits so why not do the same for Chiropractic care?!

With every visit you will get some type of movement stretch and or exercise. There is a reason for this, it's going to HELP you. The exercises given here are meant to be very convenient, meaning you can do them anywhere at any given time. You are not given a book handout with illustrations of 10+ different exercises but just 2-3 to help with your pain or discomfort you are experiencing. After your first visit it is absolutely normal to be sore, you get a little workout in here! While also the adjustment is a lot of force into a joint space along with a neurological overload at the same time to which can make you feel a residual soreness.
